Leadership: The Foundation

The process of leadership entails directing, giving guidance, and influencing the behavior and work of others to achieve specified objectives. A leader is a person who initiates work by expressing policies, procedures, and plans to the employees of the organization, which serves as the point at which the work really commences. Once the plan of work is in place, a leader needs to possess unique skills and techniques in leadership to ensure that they can positively motivate their juniors to work in confidence and determination to achieve the overall organization objectives in a particular situation within set timelines. Essentially, an effective leader should to have the ability to influence the behavior of others and to also to persuade a group of people to work towards the achievement of a common objective.

Leaders are necessary to build future visions and to persuade all the people within the organization to desire to work toward achieving those visions.

Leadership contributes to the achievement of organizational objectives and the maximization of efficiency. A leader demonstrates that he or she is playing an incentive role in the operation of the company. Leadership is about encouraging staff through the use of economic and non-economic incentives, and as a result, the leader is able to get work done by the employees. In order to attain complete co-operation, a leader must ensure that all members of the team perform to the best of their ability while they strive to accomplish the desired results.
